Like many, I too am broken.
As an artist, I am transformed by a life balanced in darkness and light, a choice if you will.
I am driven to create characters and stories that expose and investigate the human condition without fear of exploring the visceral nature between violence and human weakness. I aim to create dramatic works that give self-awareness to the audience through vivid language and subject matter that allows the audience to connect violence, loss, hope, weakness, and morality to their social surroundings and therefore question their place and stature in that paradigm.
I want to explore characters and absurd scenarios and seek to uncover the violent poetry that beats inside our hearts and lives on the edge between hope and despair; this manifestation of violence, fueled by hidden anger and unforgettable loss, is that we as humans may struggle to suppress. My familiar yet severely flawed characters are given the choice between fulfilling their violent desires to mask their inner fears, conflicts, and regret or letting go and showing compassion and therefore reaching catharsis.
My purpose on the stage and screen is heavily influenced by an abusive and neglectful childhood where my path led to darkness but I chose light.
Through journey, trial, and vulnerability, peace and beauty should be all that remains.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Smiles are nice but a little overrated.
My passion for portraiture is driven to capture the sincerity and honesty that lies behind the guard. I want my work to form a candid connection between photographer, subject, and ultimately viewer that fractures the barriers of time and location.
Drawing from an experience in the theatre, I want each shoot to have a sense of catharsis where my subjects can embrace self-acceptance while proclaiming to the world, “This is who I am.”
I am interested in the art of photography that isn’t afraid to break the textbook rules to tell visual stories where each photograph seeks to embody the personal narrative and uniqueness behind every subject.
